I just purchased a new Mio C310x and wanted
to share this fine GPS unit with you, and share also some short cuts in modifying your Mio to accept
POI inputs along with modifications to the Traffic Camera settings. Before proceeding, please read
my disclaimer.
Just unlocking this unit to allow
customization took hours of research, and for those of you who are new owners I'd like to share my
experiences to maybe help you save some time and provide you a shortcut to some of these hard to find items.
Along with step by step instructions on how to unlock,
modify, add POI's and RedLight Cameras, I'll provide links to all the software and files that you might
need to safely make these modifications.
I hope that you find this information helpful, and that
you use it properly. But please note that in no way do I offer any guarantees about these instructions.
I'm sharing with you my experiences and will share both positive and negative so you don't go down the
same silly paths that I took to finding this information.
Again, I don't offer a guarantee on this information.
If for some reason, in using this information, you damage or cause your unit to become inoperable, you can
contact me and I will try to help, but like anything else that's electronic, any modifications on it need to
be handled very carefully and done with extreme care.

This is my new Mio C310x and I really love it!
|

Another face-on shot of the C310x, nice pearly white!
|
This is a closeup of the front of the Mio C310x.
|
A thought struck me when I was looking at this,
how much it's similar in size to my Blackberry.
|

The Mio C310x and the Blackberry, almost the same size.
|
Side by side comparison to the Blackberry
|
The two are almost identical in size.
|
The small size makes this unit extrememly portable.
Here the Mio is underneath my Blackberry.
|

Here the C310x is under my Blackberry, note arrow indicating it
|
Back of the unit- speaker is VERY loud
|
The back has a powerful speaker, wrist strap attaching
point, and rubber plug over external antenna connector.
|
The bottom gives access to a headphone jack, a USB cable
connection, and has a Reset button and power on/off for hard-reset.
|

Bottom of the C310x - Headphone jack, soft-reset, USB port, and hard-reset switch.
|
Right side showing control buttons
|
On the right side of the C310x are very sturdy,
rubberized buttons for On/Off, Menu and Vol+/-.
|
And the top has an SD/MMC card slot, plus you see the
"bump" on the left where the SiRFstar III chipset is located (under GPS).
|

Top - notice bulge under GPS, that's the SiRFstar III chipset.
